Harmonising
Bond Method™
Combining a passion for holistic treatments alongside positive reinforcement training techniques to reset a dogs nervous system. We need your dog to work like a sponge, absorbing everything we teach them to live a balanced, content lifestyle. When they become stressed, anxious or reactive it is often due to an imbalance and a constant battle with their fight and flight.
"A dog speaks a language we can only hear if we truly listen"
What is this concept and how does it work?
As previously mentioned, imagine you've been on a week long training course. You start out like a sponge, keen to get going and learn lots of new things, but then someone on your table is over powering and talking over you, by the second half of day 2 you start having a headache and feel a bit overwhelmed. By Wednesday your pen has ran out of ink and you're feeling a bit tense, you begin to miss your home comforts and are feeling sleeping in a different bed strange. By Friday you just want to get through the day as best you can and find yourself barely taking in any remaining course content. This is what happens to dogs that experience trauma. Whether this be an overwhelming social interaction as a puppy, anxiety at being left or finding themselves in a unfamiliar 'home'.
A dog becomes 'shut down' and their sponge (brain) can no longer absorb the information they need too to be settled, decompressed and regulated. Typical signs of a 'shut down' dog or a dog with blockages in their nervous system can include:
🐾 Barking
🐾 Reactivity to people, other dogs, cars etc
🐾 Not settling / sleeping
🐾 Withdrawn and not interacting with family
🐾 Scratching, digging or trying to get 'comfy'
🐾 Easily startled
🐾 Sensitivity to sound and lights
🐾 Difficulty focusing
🐾 Resistant to collar and lead
🐾 Over excited and doesn't appear to have an 'off' switch
🐾 Excessive licking and chewing behaviour
🐾 Showing jealousy or resource guarding
🐾 Submissive urination
🐾 Clingy, anxious behaviours

A concept that, on first glance might not be for everyone, but, simply put, it links the harmony of mind, body and spirit to the capability of learning, growing and the ability to absorb positive reinforcement training techniques.
Dogs, as well as humans, have what we call 'Chakras' or
'Energy Centres' in the body that store energy. These can become blocked and cause 'behaviours' as we are more familiar with. By unblocking them we rebalance the nervous system so that it is ready to learn
"Harmonising Bond Between Owner & Dog"

Chakra Unblocking & Energy Release:
"Energy Runs Deep in dogs"
Having worked over a decade in rescue Sarah has seen and witnessed some horrific cases which in turn completely changed how she saw dogs and how they behaved. Realising that some behaviours were a communication to other issues being experienced in the body gave a greater understanding to what they were telling her and why. As well as immediate go to situations of abuse and neglect some dogs also found themselves in these situations through no fault of their own; families losing their homes or death of a loved one. Any situation that these dogs encountered all had a huge impact on their health and wellbeing. While she was kennel manager she often witnessed dogs who could not cope in kennel environments at all. This in turn completely altered the way they behaved. In kennels, dogs were often noise sensitive, barked, didn't sleep or rest well. They didn't benefit from a healthy, nutritious diet and certainly weren't stimulated correctly by means of exercise and enrichment. All those things we know today as an essential part of your dogs wellbeing. This wasn't due to lack of knowledge but lack of resources. Allowing in excess of 70 dogs the care and nurture they needed to thrive was challenging. By all means, they survived but to what detrimental effect on their health and wellbeing?
Watching dogs in kennels completely shut down and become unresponsive was one of the hardest things to witness. Dogs who came in from a loving family who's owner sadly passed away just had no idea how, at 14 years old they would even begin to adapt to their 'new life'. Their nervous system begins to kick in with fight and flight. Everything smells different, the world as they knew it a complete tangled web which they couldn't decode. Everything would be scary and this would always impact on the behaviours we saw. A dog who, in 14 years had never done anything to another human was now lip curling and growling you out of their space. Why? Because all of a sudden they became aggressive at 14? No, because they were scared. This was when they would shut down and be unable to absorb new surroundings or people and instead resort to survival techniques.
It wasn't just dogs in rescue that she found had become challenging, difficult or unresponsive to training though. Through experience of working with a wide range of breeds and owners it become apparent that we were constantly in battle with the 'fight and flight' response which is built into a dogs genetics and something you have to learn to regulate. Reactive, fearful, anxious or over excited dogs were all struggling to learn but for different reasons. Calming the energy centres, rebalancing the nervous system and working through their fight and flight rather than against it bought about a more calm and responsive dog who was able to learn.
Having discovered that this 'shut down' state reduced a dogs ability to learn, there had to be something we could do to rewire the nervous system, calm and restore the energy centres and reset the brain ready for learning, right?
Through Reiki, Crystal Healing and reset techniques Sarah soon discovered a change in a dogs temperament, mannerisms and adaptability. This gave them a new lease of life, a willingness to regain trust and to awaken to the process of learning.
If you're struggling to get your dog to engage, learn or are simply just not succeeding in your current training techniques; introducing this method will alter both of your perspectives, increase your bond and drive you forward with your training.
A dog has 9 'Chakras' or Energy Centres'. Each one displaying different behaviour traits in dogs. Having the knowledge, understanding and skills to observe and monitor a dog and how they function in their every day life brings about a new level of understanding to their world.
